    Rogue Build: Dual Daggers

How a Rogue builds inside the permanent dual-dagger lock, with the averaged weapon profile, the ten matrix gems, supports, Disciplines, and gear order.

A Rogue holds a dagger in each hand. That is the only legal configuration, and it is permanent. The Rogue never changes weapon family, and the Rogue never equips a shield, a talisman, or a quiver. The hub tolerates a single dagger. Map entry refuses one, because a map needs the complete pair.

    Your weapon

    Main hand: dagger. Off-hand: dagger.

Six dagger bases are enabled. The number in brackets is the map tier that unlocks the base.

    BaseMap tier
    Carving Dagger1
    Viper’s Tooth1
    Glassfang Dirk3
    Nightprick Stiletto5
    whisperknife7
    Abyssal Lancet10

Both bases come from the same six. There is no separate off-hand catalog.

    The averaged profile

Two daggers produce one weapon profile. Physical minimum, physical maximum, attack speed, and every elemental damage bucket average independently across the pair. There is no hidden dual-wield bonus. The animation alternates hands. The damage never does.

That rule changes how you judge a drop. Compare the new pair average against the old pair average. Never compare one blade against one blade. Three consequences follow.

    • A single excellent dagger raises the profile by half of what it looks like. The other blade pulls the average back down.
    • A weak off-hand caps a strong main hand. Two even daggers usually beat one great dagger and one bad one.
    • Attack speed averages the same way. A fast blade and a slow blade give you a middle speed, not the fast one.

Two daggers also mean two full affix blocks. That is the Rogue compensation for no shield and no talisman. Resistances, life, and critical affixes roll on both weapons.

    Your skill matrix

The Rogue matrix holds ten gems. Every gem below requires a complete dagger pair.

    SchoolSingle targetArea and clear
    PhysicalBlade FlurryFan of Blades (nova)
    FireEmberfangCinder Dance (channelled area)
    ColdRimefangHoarfrost Ring (nova)
    LightningVolt FangArcflash Dance (channelled area)
    ChaosGloamfangNightglass Bloom (nova)

Every matrix gem is class-exclusive. Every one requires character level 1. Every one deals 100% of its listed damage school. The gate is the exact loadout, not the tag line. A Rogue with one dagger equipped loses the whole matrix.

The Rogue uses neither shield gem, because both need a real shield.

You also use the two melee shouts, Vanguard’s Cry and Ruin Cry, which need a melee weapon in hand. Every class uses the six auras: Iron Choir, Quickening Current, Prismatic Covenant, Crimson Standard, Miasma Mantle, and Hushed Dominion. One aura runs at a time.

The Skill Gem Index lists the exact numbers.

    Starter kit

    ItemValue
    Starter gemFan of Blades
Starter weaponsCarving Dagger and Carving Dagger, item level 10
    Attributes8 STR / 26 DEX / 8 INT

Every class starts with 42 attribute points and exactly one gem. There are no pouch grants. Every other gem arrives through a global drop or a player trade. Fan of Blades is a nova, so it clears packs from the first map. Add a single-target gem when one drops.

    Support gems

Each active-gem instance holds four support slots. The slots unlock at gem levels 1, 5, 10, and 20 for 1,000, 10,000, 75,000, and 500,000 gold. The full set costs 586,000 gold. No slot is free. Buy each slot as soon as the gold and the gem level allow it.

A support gains levels only while its host gem stays equipped. Attach a correct cheap support early. A late perfect support never catches up.

Some supports fail on delivery shape and not on tags. Area-resize supports need a real area, so a strike, a charge, and a beam channel reject them. Repeat supports reject a single-target strike and a charge. The Rogue area gems are novas and channelled areas, and both shapes accept the area family.

    Verified Rogue attachments:

    • Blade Flurry and the other four strikes take Melee Splash for pack overlap, Sure Strike for accuracy, Close Combat for full-value range, and Critical Focus for critical chance.
    • Fan of Blades, Hoarfrost Ring, and Nightglass Bloom take Increased Area or Concentrated Effect for shape, plus Aftershock for a second wave. The three shape supports share one conflict group, so pick one.
    • Cinder Dance and Arcflash Dance are channelled. They take Deep Channel, Faster Channeling, and Final Burst, and they still take the area supports.
    • Armor Breaker attaches to the physical gems only. Each school owns its own penetration support, and the penetration supports conflict with each other.
    • Critical Ruin trades critical chance for critical damage. It pairs with a build that already stacks critical chance from Disciplines and dagger affixes.
    • Shouts take Resounding Command, Lingering Cry, Crowdcaller, and Blood Command.
    • Auras take Amplified Presence, Concentrated Presence, Rhythmic Pulse, and Anchored Presence.

Support Gems lists conflict groups and every rejection reason.

    Discipline directions

A character binds three panels from the twenty-panel catalog. Any panel fits any slot. The slots unlock at character levels 1, 10, and 20. Levels 1 through 48 grant one Remembrance Point each, for 48 points. One panel accepts at most 16 points. A Greater Truth unlocks at 9 invested points and a Final Truth at 16. Level 49 Crowns one full panel. Levels 49 through 53 grant five Ascendant Points in total.

Four directions that suit the daggers:

    • Critical, Physical, Evasion. The staple. Fast light hits convert best into critical damage, and evasion matches the starting kit.
    • Critical, Bleed, Evasion. Many small hits apply many bleeds. Bleed pays for the low damage per hit.
    • Chaos, Poison, Evasion. The choice for a Gloamfang and Nightglass Bloom pair.
    • Critical, Physical, Recovery. The tougher option. Recovery replaces the mitigation that a shield class carries.

Never take the Block panel. The Rogue cannot hold a shield, and its shield nodes stay inert. See Disciplines for Truths and the Crown.

    Gear priorities

    1. All four resistances to the cap. Partial resistance is worth close to nothing. Map tiers subtract resistance, so the sheet value has to sit above the cap before entry.
    2. Chaos resistance last to arrive. Fire, cold, and lightning reach the cap from ordinary drops. Chaos does not. Check chaos after every equip.
    3. Evasion, and armour behind it. Evasion is the Rogue defensive layer, and it is the layer the class scales best. Evasion does nothing about the hits it fails to avoid, so take armour and hybrid bases where the drops offer them.
    4. Life and life recovery. A dagger Rogue stands in melee range. The pool has to hold.
    5. Offence last. Critical chance and critical multiplier, then damage of your school, then accuracy. Critical multiplier is dead weight without the hits to multiply.

Read How Survival Actually Works before you spend crafting currency. Overcap decides deep maps, not the sheet value.

    Traps

    • Do not judge a dagger alone. The pair averages into one profile. A drop that beats your worse blade can still lower the average that the sim uses.
    • Do not run one dagger. The hub permits it. The map refuses entry, and every matrix gem goes inert without the pair.
    • A weapon drop outside your family is not an upgrade. A great sword, axe, or bow roll is trade material for a Rogue. The equip rules reject it.
    • Do not chase critical multiplier before accuracy and critical chance. Multiplier scales a number that has to land first.
    • Do not spread across two damage schools. Each matrix gem deals 100% of one school. One school concentrates every increase, every penetration support, and one Discipline panel.
