Item Levels & Requirements
Learn map item-level bands, higher-band drops, base scaling, affix unlocks, and equipment requirements.
Item level controls innate base scaling, affix-tier access, class gates, implicit scaling, and equipment requirements. It is separate from rarity.
Map bands
Each map tier normally drops a ten-level item band:
From map tier 3 upward, gear has a 15% chance to roll from one band higher than the current map, capped at the maximum item level. Tier 1 and tier 2 maps never roll higher-band gear, so a new champion can wear what it finds.
Base-stat scaling
Weapon damage, armour, evasion, and energy shield use:
The multiplier is applied to the base’s own physical, elemental, or defensive multipliers. Rarity never enters this calculation.
Affix-tier unlocks
Gear-affix tiers unlock at these item levels:
Crafting Signature families requires iLvl 41; Mythic families require iLvl 91. The same gates apply to skill gems: Signature at gem item level 41, Mythic at 91.
See the complete Gear Affix Compendium for family-specific ranges and eligible bases.
Level requirement
The first two cases soften the early requirement. They rejoin half the item level exactly at item level 30, so nothing above the early game changes. Tier 1 drops therefore require levels 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, and 4 across item levels 1 to 10. A tier 1 rare always requires level 3 or 4.
Attribute requirements use each base’s Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence profile. Attribute-requirement reduction can lower those three values by up to 50%, but the level requirement remains fixed.
Base catalog
Every base page shows example damage, defenses, implicits, and requirements at item levels 1, 50, 100, and 150. Start with the Item Base Index.
