Items & Rarity
Understand equipment bases, explicit affix counts, item levels, and inventory space.
An item’s power comes from its base, item level, implicit effect, and explicit affixes. Rarity is a readable summary of explicit affix count. It is not a hidden multiplier.
Rarity from affixes
| Rarity | Explicit affixes | Display color |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 0 | Parchment white |
| Magic | 1–2 | Arcane blue |
| Rare | 3–6 | Gold yellow |
Because rarity is recalculated after crafting, adding or removing an affix can change the label. Two items with the same base and the same affixes have the same power regardless of whether those affixes were dropped or crafted.
Prefixes and suffixes
Every equipment item can hold up to three prefixes and three suffixes. Affix families have item-class restrictions, level requirements, tiers, and weights.
Item level controls the affix tiers the item can access. A high map tier does not improve an old low-item-level base already in the stash.
Equipment compatibility
Weapons establish the basic attack profile and can enable or disable skill gems. Armor, evasion, energy shield, attributes, resistances, and offensive modifiers come from the rest of the equipment set.
Before equipping an apparent upgrade, check:
- whether the main skill still has a compatible weapon;
- whether attribute requirements remain satisfied;
- whether resistance caps fall;
- whether an important implicit or specialized affix is lost.
Inventory and stash
All current items occupy one grid cell. The run inventory is 5 columns by 12 rows. The stash is 20 columns by 12 rows.
The run inventory travels into maps and receives picked-up loot. At the end of a run, new loot moves into the stash. Keep open space in both places so the loot filter can do useful work.
